storm watching & other wild things

 It's been raining all day. Pouring.

Wind whipping the drops at the cottage with anger. Yesterday even a little snow early in the morning that mixed with the raindrops. Teasing us. A snowman would shiver. It's cold. It's wet. It's undecided.

The cottage occupants are stuck inside. Some sleep. Some read or sew. All wander about and peer out through the windows, or an open door. But no one wants to venture beyond. It's a winter storm. It's hot chocolate weather. No fun for little kitty princesses that have more energy than they know what to do with. Play inside? So be it.

Trees were meant to be conquered nar'mind decorations flying, rugs seemingly placed for crumpling & hiding under can be scooted across floors. Days such as these require jumping to the table & removing each mandarin orange in the bowl, One-at-a-time. Thud. Bump. Roll. Crash. It's the princess style method to wake a slumbering corgi puppers. "I know you are awake" (little kitty princesses are not subtle), "PLAY WITH ME!"

Tables set for dinner are a delight. A place to rest & help oneself to a sip of water. Stand on a plate (might it be in the way) push the flowers aside and should the vase teeter over, take no mind of wet feet. The tablecloth will catch most of it. Always loudly claim the puppers chased you up there.

Noted: Pouncing on flowers is possibly more fun indoors than out. Clearly. Casting big green eyes towards the dog and looking innocent doesn't work. The human mama person knows better.

And as darkness falls, wool sweaters are for nesting & napping curled up in a ball. Purring. At least until the dust settles and the human has picked up the remnants of flowers, gathered fruits from under chairs and found all the glass hearts from the tree scattered on the wood floors.

The weatherman is calling the storm to continue. Sigh. Little Kitty Princesses need their sleep. Yes. One content little kitty princess smiling sleepily from her lair. They've strung popcorn and hung paper chains. Filled the bowl with more oranges & there are now containers with candycanes which stick out top. Oh boy. Tomorrow. More storm.

 

I'm guessing the morning will start with fresh orange juice.

[Boxwood Cottage]

Aw ZuZu I could have written that story almost the same, if only I could write as sweet as you do this is. Our Tabby tom cat Riley (we mostly call him Ickle which is Great Britain English for Tiny/Small, although he's almost 6 month old now and not so tiny anymore) has as much energy as you pretty Princess at least so it sounds, they sure would have a lot of fun together!:) We wait until spring for him to leave him outside alone, so he's always in the cottage and is doing mieschief all day lol but you can never be mad at him because of his cuteness. He loves all things that roll, especially nuts and crapabbles. If I should ever move again I'm sure I'll find tons of it under wardrobes and dressers etc. lol

Hope your winter storm is gonna be over soon. Just keep enjoying the cosy and snuggling part of it!
We got frost tonight and it is supposed to stay for the next weeks. Hopefully we'll get a little snow too!
